Paul Lieberman
Paul M. Lieberman, PhD is the Hilary Koprowski Professor and Director of the Center for Advanced Therapeutics at the Wistar Institute in Philadelphia. He is an affiliate Professor in the Department of Microbiology at the University of Pennsylvania. Dr. Lieberman received his BA from Cornell University and PhD from The Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine in Pharmacology/Virology studying Epstein-Barr virus gene regulation. Dr. Lieberman’s present research focuses on the epigenetic mechanisms controlling Epstein-Barr Virus (EBV) persistence and genome maintenance in B-cells and cancer. The Lieberman team is developing small molecule inhibitors to EBNA1 that is presently in a Phase I/II clinical trial for treatment of EBV cancers. Dr. Lieberman is an Elected Fellow of the American Association for the Advancement of Science.
