Jan Lünemann

Jan D. Lünemann is Full Professor of Neurology at the University of Münster, Germany. Dr. Lünemann received his medical degree at Humboldt University and his residency training in the Department of Neurology at the Charité University Hospital, both in Berlin, Germany. He received his postdoctoral training with a focus on cellular immunology at the National Institutes of Health (Bethesda, MD) and at the Rockefeller University in New York. Before his tenure in Münster, he was Assistant Professor at the Institute of Experimental Immunology, University of Zürich, and Consultant at the Departments of Neurology, University Hospitals of Basel and Zürich, Switzerland. Dr. Lünemann received the Human Immunology Award from the Irvington Institute for Immunological Research and the Dana Foundation, New York, and the Siegenthaler Scientific Award for Medical Sciences from the University of Zürich. He is Fellow of the American Neurological Society (ANA) and the European Academy of Neurology (EAN), member of the EAN Scientific Panels on MS and Neuroimmunology. His research focuses on understanding the immunology and improving immunotherapies for people with MS and other autoimmune diseases. He has a long standing interest in studying the role of EBV in MS.
